DIY Easter Egg Tree For Toddlers

It’s important to me to include my kids in the everyday things I do. Whether it’s baking a cake, cooking dinner, decorating or even checking my emails, I want to teach them how to do “real life” tasks. It gives us more time together plus it makes doing those monotonous tasks much more fun. It could even spark a passion inside them…you never know, I may be raising the next Bobby Flay or Joanna Gaines.

I love finding “tasktivities” to do with my kids. “Tasktivity” is the art of taking a boring task and turning it into a fun activity; just call me Mary Poppins.  Case in point, I needed a centerpiece for Easter and I wanted to include my children to make something fun and springy. This little Egg Tree was just the ticket and we created it for only $5. They had the best time helping me and now have a new Easter tradition.

If you have toddlers, they will LOVE this activity.

 Things you will need:

• Eggs with loops for hanging (I purchased these little ornament eggs at The Dollar Tree. $1 per bag…Holla!)  They had plain and glitter eggs I got 2 bags of each for different textures
• Branches (got mine “fo free” from the back yard)
• Mason Jar/Vase
• Ribbon to go around your jar/vase

Now, let’s assemble the Easter Egg tree.

First things first, we went outside and scoured the ground for the perfect branches.  In true toddler fashion, they picked up every branch they could find (but at least most of them were useful for our project). This was an all morning event, mainly because we got side tracked and spent more time outside than I had planned.

Next, we returned to our work station in the dining room and I arranged our branches in the mason jar. My jar is re-purposed from various baby/wedding showers. The burlap and lace ribbon has been on there for some time now. I’m all in favor of being resourceful and using what I have so whatever ribbon/vase/jar you have will be perfect. After the branches were set, they went to work. I turned the vase every couple of eggs to prevent them from loading down one branch with 5 eggs. Rae Rae kept telling me we need to add lights it would look “pwetty.” I’m guessing it brought back all the feels of decorating our Christmas tree.

Boom, a beautiful finished product!

I have a centerpiece perfect for Spring and the kids have something they made and are proud that it is displayed in the house.
